Y'all know I am a huge believer in the power of words. I think what we say has power and I think it's a big deal what we speak over ourselves, our circumstances and the people around us.
Lately, I've started to pay close attention to what escapes my mouth. Sometimes, what I am saying is filled with doubt, unbelief, and straight up lies. Instead of ignoring that and pretending it didn't happen, I need to take the hint of what spilled out of my spirit in those seemingly hopeless moments and take the time to transform it in prayer.
Here is a quick guide I made taking some of the things I will say, and then turning them around into what I need to be praying.
On the left there is the lie or doubt filled expression I might find myself saying, and on the right is something straight out of scripture I need to be praying and using to remind myself of what is true.
Saying "it will never get better," can be turned into the declaration that I can always depend on God, because He is everything I need, including hope for a seemingly hopeless situation.
This is one I have been praying a lot lately. Do you ever feel like the timing is just never right for you? What if, we prayed and believed that God's timing is always perfect and no promise He has made to us is on hold?
Have you ever felt called to something, and then disqualified yourself because you feel like you need more preparation, more talent, more skill, or more hard work before you get going? Same, but seriously, how many times does God choose to work through people who aren't qualified or equipped? So. many. times. I think He can use us and equip us too.
Sometimes I am pretty certain God asked me to do something. But then I let my mind spiral and start to question if it was really God speaking to me. I have to cling to this verse a lot. I know God. I follow Him. I know His voice. It really is that simple.
Have you ever felt so deeply discouraged or maybe even just straight up confused that you don't know how or what to pray for? This verse reminds me that the Spirit of God meets me right where I am at, every time, in every season and circumstance. He hears all the prayers, even when we can't find the words.
I get overwhelmed by the world. It feels like a lot sometimes, maybe even too much. I have to remind myself that Jesus came and gave us power and authority over the world. We have all the power and authority we need, in Him.
Are you waiting on an answer to a prayer? Keep praying, He hears you!
I think this one is the one I say the most. I feel powerless a lot. I feel weak. I feel like I can't do it. But that's the whole point.
I can't do it on my own. But God can, and He is always present, always involved, always providing everything I need.
So, what are you saying? I hope one of these verses served as a reminder to you of what the Word of God has to say about it, and what you can be praying over yourself!
